SPECIAL RULES The Junior Ag Robotics Challenge is a challenge-based robotics contest. Some challenges will be released prior to the contest, and some will be revealed the day of the Contest. As such, teams will be required to build and program their robot prior to the Contest for the known challenges. The known challenges and full game rules will be posted at this link: https://texas4-h.tamu.edu/projects/robotics/. On the day of the Contest, additional “unknown” challenges will be revealed, and teams will be given time to further build and program to account for the new challenges. All entries in this Junior Ag Robotics Challenge will be subject to the General Rules and Regulations of the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, General Rules and Regulations for Competitions and Contests and, in addition, the following Special Rules. 1. Eligibility. Each County Extension Agent or Agricultural Science Teacher may enter four (4) teams in each Age Division. Entries in this division are limited to Texas 4-H and FFA members. Any contestant violating any rule will be disqualified from the Contest along with his or her team. Teams must consist of members from the same county or chapter. Three (3) to four (4) students will constitute a team in this Contest. Teams may not include members from different age divisions. Team members may only compete on one (1) team. 2. Entry Applications. All entries must be submitted online at fwssr.com and in accordance with instructions. 3. Entry Limitation. Due to space limitations, only the first forty (40) Junior teams and the first forty (40) Senior teams will be accepted; there will NOT be a waiting list . 4. Age Divisions (as of January 1, 2027). Junior: At least eight (8) years old and in the third grade, but no more than eighth grade. Senior: Must be in at least the ninth grade, but not older than nineteen (19) years old and in the twelfth grade. 5. Minimum Construction Skills and Proficiency. Competitors must be capable of designing and building a functioning robot that includes the use of motors and sensors. a. Motors b. Light/color sensor c. Touch sensor d. Ultrasonic sensor e. Levers, arms, claws, etc. 6. Minimum Programming Skills and Proficiency. Competitors must be capable of programming a robot in order for it to:

a. Move b. Turn c. Lift d. Maneuver attachments effectively e. Use sensors appropriately and effectively

7. Equipment. Each team must supply their own equipment for the challenge. Each team may only bring the supplies listed in the game rules linked above. Equipment will be inspected/measured by contest officials as teams check-in and during the contest. Any extra equipment or item that does not meet specifications will be returned to the team coach. The team’s robot must be fully assembled when checking in. 8. Bluetooth Connectivity. Bluetooth connections can be made and utilized during Build Time. It is not allowed during Match Play while the robot is on the playing field. No internet connectivity will be provided. Teams are advised to make sure their computer’s operating system, software and robot firmware are up-to-date prior to the contest.
