SPECIAL RULES 1. All exhibits of Santa Gertrudis breeding cattle must be registered or recorded (50% - 75% with one parent a registered Santa Gertrudis), meeting the requirements for registration or recordation as outlined in the Santa Gertrudis Rules and Regulations for Registration, and shall be governed by the last revised version of the Rules and Regulations for Approved Santa Gertrudis Open and Junior Shows as approved by the Board of Santa Gertrudis Breeders International, PO Box 1257, Kingsville, TX 78364. A copy may be obtained by contacting the association or viewed at www. santagertrudis.com. Each owner must be a member in good standing with SGBI. All animals must be registered or recorded and PERMANENTLY identified before the show with a brand ID or an ear tattoo. 2. REMINDER-Entry Verification . Exhibitors will be responsible for obtaining and verifying their show number/entry to the Superintendents in the Corral Room (in the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall Building) from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Friday, January 16 and 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Saturday, January 17. 3. All bulls eleven (11) months of age and older must be exhibited with a permanent nose ring. 4. Heifers twenty-four (24) months of age or older must be safe in calf as verified by a graduate veterinarian or have produced a live, Santa Gertrudis sired calf with that calf at side meeting the Standard of Excellence and the calf must be registered by thirty (30) days of age. All bulls twenty-four (24) months of age or older must provide a passing BSE test per show season. 5. All Purebred animals must be exhibited with the hair brushed down on the entire body, legs and tail, and with no foreign objects attached to the animal in a manner as to alter the animal’s conformation or change its appearance. Star Five animals are not subject to purebred clipping rules; Star Five animals are to be blow and go, hair may be brushed according to preference with no paint or adhesives on any part of the body. Exhibitors failing to abide by this rule will not be allowed to show. 6. Classes with over thirty (30) entries will be divided into sections and section winners return for final placing. 7. 2026 National Open Show: All females in classes 1-5 (Calf Division) and all bulls in classes 28-30 (Calf Champion) will be weighed prior to the show with classes being broke by weight, not age. The 1st and 2nd place animals in each class will be weighed back prior the official placing of the class. The animal must weigh within 5% of the overage, or it will be disqualified. Animals will be weighed once (no re-weighs). If either or both of the 1st or 2nd place animals are disqualified, weighing through class order will continue until an official 1st and 2nd is determined. 2026 National Santa Gertrudis weigh-in will be conducted Sunday, January 18 from 10 a.m. until Noon. All animals needing to be weighed must be in line by Noon. Location of weigh-in to be announced at a later date. 8. All cattle born Sept. 21, 2025 and after MUST be a calf on side of a female that is entered in the show and being shown in its respective class, in order for the calf at side to show as an individual entry.
