SPECIAL RULES This Contest will be governed by the General Rules and Regulations of the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, General Rules and Regulations for Judging Contests and, in addition, the following Special Rules. 1. ELIGIBILITY: a. Contestants must be bona fide 4-H or FFA members trained under the supervision of their respective Agricultural Science Teacher or County Extension Agent and enrolled in public or private schools in the State of Texas. 4-H contestants must reside in the county they are competing under, and FFA contestants must be listed on the active roster of their chapter. b. Each County Extension Agent or Agricultural Science Teacher may enter one (1) or more teams and any number of individuals in the Contest. All contestants must be nine (9) years old or in the third grade, but not older than nineteen (19) years old on January 1, 2025. c. Contestants may compete as individuals or as a team. A team consists of two (2) persons in the same age division. Team members must be from the same school or county program. Team scores will include the total of both members. Contestants are divided into two (2) age divisions (age as of January 1, 2025): Junior (8-13 years old) and Senior (14-19 years old). d. Entry applications may be obtained by contacting the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, PO Box 150, Fort Worth, Texas 76101-0150, 817-877-2400, or on our website fwssr.com. 2. PURPOSE: This Contest is designed to challenge any youth currently in a wildlife study and enhance their education in the subject of wildlife species and wildlife habitat management. 3. STUDY RESOURCE: The Study Resource for this Contest can be downloaded from the following website: texas4-h.tamu.edu/projects/ wildlife-fisheries/. Scroll down to ‘Stock Show Wildlife Contests’ and select ‘ Texas Stock Show Wildlife Contest Study Resource ’. Refer to this Resource to also understand the Contest Procedures and specific Contest Rules. 4. CONTESTANT EQUIPMENT: Each contestant should take the following to the Contest: • Clipboard • Two (2) or more #2 pencils for marking answer sheets Contestants are not allowed to bring the following to the Contest: • Cell phone or any other electronic device (Refer to Page 223, Rule 5) • Any paper that is not provided by the Contest 5. SCORING: All parts of the Contest will be scored for Individual and Team scores. On Teams, each team member’s individual score will be used to determine their team score. All contestants are eligible for the high individual placings in their age division. 6. RESULTS AND AWARDS: a. Results will be announced at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden at 1 p.m. b. Rosettes will be awarded to first through third place teams in each Division and through sixth place individuals in each Division.
