TIMED EVENT CHALLENGE SPECIAL RULES
All contestants in the Timed Event Challenge will be under the supervision of the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show and all Horse Show General Rules and Regulations published in this Premium List will apply unless otherwise stated in the Special Rules of the Timed Event Challenge. Any contestant violating any General or Special Rule will be disqualified on all entries and will be subject to forfeiting any premium money won. The interpretation of the Rules by the Show Management will be final and no protests will be permitted. 1. The Timed Event Challenge will include the top sixty-five (65) entries in each of the following events: Team Roping, Tie-down Roping and Barrel Racing. See Pages 74-75 for class numbers. 2. No entry is needed for the Timed Event Challenge. Horses entered in the Paint Horse Show classes or the Quarter Horse Show classes listed under each event will automatically be eligible. 3. The Quarter Horse Show classes will be judged and American Quarter Horse Association points will be awarded accordingly. The Paint Horse Show classes will be judged and American Paint Horse Association points will be awarded accordingly. While the Paint Horse Show and Quarter Horse Show classes are being judged, times will also be recorded and the horses recording the sixty-five (65) fastest times from the combination of Paint Horse and Quarter Horse classes will qualify for the Timed Event Challenge. 4. A horse may qualify for more than one (1) of the top sixty-five (65) positions in the Timed Event Challenge. Example: Horses entered in the Senior Tie-down Roping class may also show in the Amateur Tie-down Roping class and record two (2) of the sixty-five (65) fastest times. In this case, the horse will make two (2) runs in the Timed Event Challenge and will be eligible for two (2) placings. A horse registered with both the American Quarter Horse Association and American Paint Horse Association is eligible to enter both shows and qualify for multiple positions in the Timed Event Challenge. AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge Classes are not eligible to qualify for the Timed Event Challenge. 5. If a horse receives a no score while being judged in the Paint Horse Show or the Quarter Horse Show classes, the time will be recorded as no time. 6. The times recorded in the Paint Horse Show or the Quarter Horse Show classes will not carry over to the Timed Event Challenge. The Timed Event Challenge will consist of one (1) go-round with premium money awarded as outlined under each event. 7. American Paint Horse Association rules will govern the Paint Horse Show classes, and the American Quarter Horse Association rules will govern the Quarter Horse Show classes. The Timed Event Challenge will be conducted under the guidelines of the PRCA and WPRA Timed Event Rules. 8. Humane treatment of animals (including helping horses) must be exercised at all times by all exhibitors and their employees. Animals that have been given any form of intoxicating beverages, tranquilizers or other drugs enhancing the performance, or affecting the mood or attitude of the animal prior to judging will be disqualified. Any inhumane treatment will be reported to the appropriate governing association. 9. Any contestant found ineligible for the Paint Horse Show or the Quarter Horse Show class for which they qualified for the Timed Event Challenge will be disqualified. Premium checks for the Timed Event Challenge will be held pending verification of eligibility for the Paint Horse or the Quarter Horse classes. 10. The horse and exhibitor combination judged in the Paint Horse Show or the Quarter Horse Show classes must remain the same in the Timed Event Challenge. No substitutions will be allowed. Team Ropers may change partners for the Timed Event Challenge.
