SPECIAL RULES 1. To be eligible, heifers must be validated with the Texas Heifer Validation Program administered by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas Education Agency, division of Agricultural Science and Technology. Exhibitors are required to bring original registration paper to the show ring while exhibiting the heifer. Placing animals will be verified for identification matching the original papers. DNA samples will be collected on Breed Champion and Reserve Breed Champion Heifers, as well as any other heifers designated by the Show Management. In the event the DNA analysis reveals there is not a positive match, the animal will be disqualified. 2. Each exhibitor is entitled to enter one (1) heifer in the Junior Breeding Beef Heifer Show. A copy of the original registration certificate must be submitted with entry application. 3. Animals entered in this department must meet the respective breed association requirements and must be registered in the records of their respective breed association in the name of the exhibitor on or before November 1, 2023. Ownership date on registration certificate will be interpreted as follows: • Angus – print date • Beefmaster – purchase date • Brahman – date of delivery (only ABBA registration papers accepted) • Brangus – print date • Charolais – printed date • Hereford – date of transfer on certificate • Limousin – ownership date • Maine-Anjou – date of ownership on certificate • Polled Hereford – date of transfer on certificate • Red Angus – sale date, issue date, ownership date and/or print date, whichever is latest • Santa Gertrudis – sale date shown on certificate • Shorthorn – date of ownership • Simbrah/Simmental – issue date, date of reissue, date of origin, date of sale or original issue - whichever is latest. • Other Recorded Heifers – date of sale, date of ownership or print date 2024 JUNIOR BREEDING BEEF HEIFER SHOW A copy of the original registration certificate must be submitted with the entry application at the time of entry. Exhibitors are required to bring original registration paper to the show ring while exhibiting the heifer. 4. Entry Verification. Exhibitors will be responsible for obtaining and verifying their show number/entry to Superintendents at the McFarland Room (in the W. R. Watt Arena) from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Thursday, January 18 and 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., Friday, January 19. 5. Sponsored Animals. Juniors exhibiting animals, sponsored by an organization which is holding the Certificate of Registration, must obtain from the sponsoring organization a photocopy of the certificate or the certificate itself. In the case of photocopies, the sponsoring organization’s official seal, logo or letterhead must be included. 6. Open Show. Junior exhibitors may enter the same animal in the Open and Junior Shows. However, the Junior entry and the Open entry must be submitted on separate entry applications. Only one (1) Agent Summary Sheet is needed for both entries. An additional show fee of $35 must be paid with the Open entry. ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE ENTRY CLOSING DEADLINE . 7. Scramble Heifers. Scramble Heifers will show in their respective class in each breed. 8. All Junior Heifer substitutions must be made by 10 a.m., Friday, January 19. The substitution fee is $50. 9. Showmanship Contests will be held during individual class judging. Showmanship placings will be announced immediately after the Champion and Reserve Champion Heifers are selected. Exhibitors are not required to submit an entry application for Showmanship Classes.
