SPECIAL RULES 1. General Rules. All entries in the Junior Dairy Cattle Show will be subject to the General Rules and Regulations and to Special Rules of the Junior Livestock Show published in this Premium List , insofar as they pertain to dairy cattle. 2. Arrival Time. All dairy animals must be in their stalls by Noon, Saturday, January 13. 3. REMINDER-Entry Verification. Exhibitors will be responsible for obtaining and verifying their show number/entry to Superintendents at the Corral Room (in the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall Building) from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Friday, January 12 and 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Saturday, January 13. 4. Certificate of Registration. A Certificate of Registration on each animal entered in the Junior Dairy Cattle Show must be available and must be presented to the Superintendent of the Junior Dairy Cattle Show for checking not later than 5 p.m., Saturday, January 13. Application for transfer and pending registration will not be accepted. NO FAXED COPIES. 5. Date of Ownership. Animals must be registered in the name of the exhibitor and must have been owned by the exhibitor on or before November 1, 2023, as evidenced by date of transfer, recorded date or received date by the breed association. 6. Payment on Milk. All milk produced in the milking parlor will be bought by Dairy Farmers of America which will make payment for the product to the Texas Purebred Dairy Cattle Association. The secretary of the Texas Purebred Dairy Cattle Association will make payment to individual exhibitor. It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to properly identify their cows as they are milked. 7. Open Show. Junior exhibitors may enter the same animal in the Open and Junior Shows. However, the Junior entry and the Open entry must be submitted on separate entry applications. Only one (1) Agent Summary Sheet is needed for both entries. An additional cattle show fee of $35 must be paid with the Open entry. ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE ENTRY CLOSING DEADLINE. 8. Number of Entries. Each exhibitor will be permitted to show as many as three (3) animals in the Junior Dairy Cattle Show, but not more than two (2) animals in any one (1) single class with the exception of championship classes. 9. Dress. Each person holding or exhibiting an animal in the arena should be dressed in white, preferably in white trousers and white shirt. Clothing worn in the arena may not bear any insignia or writing other than FFA or 4-H. 10. Sponsored Animals. Juniors exhibiting animals sponsored by an organization which is holding the Certificate of Registration must obtain from the sponsoring organization a photocopy of the certificate, or the certificate itself, and present it to the Superintendent for checking. In the case of photocopies, both sides of the Certificate of Registration must be photocopied and the sponsoring organization’s official seal, logo or letterhead must be included. 11. Judging Format. Other Purebred and Brown Swiss cattle will be judged at 8 a.m., Tuesday, January 16 followed by Jersey. Holstein cattle will be judged at 1 p.m. 12. Judging of Entries. Entries will be judged on a dual merit basis. All entries will be grouped as follows:

Purple Ribbon Group: Score of 90 or above*-----------------5 points Blue Ribbon Group: Score of 85 to 90----------------------4 points Red Ribbon Group: Score of 80 to 85----------------------3 points White Ribbon Group: Score of 79 or below------------------2 points * Only animals which have given birth to one or more calves may receive a score of 90 or above.

The Uniform Dairy Cattle Score Card, published by the Purebred Dairy Cattle Association, shall be used by the judge as his basis for scoring each animal. Entries in the blue ribbon group or above will be placed in numerical order in accordance with the ribbons that will be awarded by the respective breed association. 13. Premium Award. A maximum of $45 per point based on the above scale of points will be paid to exhibitors in the Junior Dairy Cattle Show. Should the total premium money earned exceed the premium money allocated for the Junior Dairy Cattle Show, a readjustment of the amount paid per point will be made. Additional points will not be allowed for numerical placing.
