SPECIAL RULES 1. Read General Rules. All entries and awards in this department will be subject to the General Rules and Regulations published in this Premium List , insofar as they pertain to dairy cattle. 2. Reminder-Entry Verification. Exhibitors will be responsible for obtaining and verifying their show number/entry to Superintendents at the Corral Room (in the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall Building) from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Friday, January 12 and 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Saturday, January 13. 3. Certificates of Registry. Registration certificates on each animal entered in the Dairy Cattle Show must be presented to the Superintendent of the Dairy Cattle Department for checking not later than 5 p.m., Saturday, January 13. Application for transfer will not be accepted. NO FAXES ACCEPTED. 4. Ownership. Ownership will be defined by the Certificate of Registration. Animals owned in partnership may be entered in one (1) owner’s name but must appear under this ownership in all classes. Application for transfer will not be accepted. 5. Milk Produced in the Milking Parlor. All milk produced in the milking parlor will be bought by Dairy Farmers of America which will make payment for the product to the Texas Purebred Dairy Cattle Association. The secretary of the Texas Purebred Dairy Cattle Association will make payment to the individual exhibitor. It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to properly identify their cows as they are milked. 6. Junior Exhibitors. Junior exhibitors may enter the same animal in the Open and Junior Shows. However, the Junior entry and the Open entry must be submitted on separate entry applications. Only one (1) Agent Summary Sheet is needed for both entries. An additional cattle show fee of $40 must be paid with the Junior entry. ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE ENTRY CLOSING DEADLINE. 7. Heifers in Milk. All heifers shown in milk must be shown in classes for females calved after September 1, 2021. 8. Dairy Cattle Sifting Committee. A dairy cattle sifting committee, of which the Dairy Cattle Department Superintendent will be a member, will be appointed by the Show Management to inspect and sift the cattle in this department. 9. Number of Entries. No exhibitor will be allowed to exhibit more than four (4) entries in any class of the Dairy Cattle Department. 10. Judging Format. Ayrshire and Milking Shorthorn cattle will be judged at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 14. The youngest class of Ayrshire females will be judged first, followed by the youngest class of Milking Shorthorn females. The remainder of the classes will be judged youngest to oldest, alternating between the two breeds. Brown Swiss and Guernsey cattle will be judged at 8 a.m., Monday, January 15. The youngest class of Brown Swiss females will be judged first, followed by the youngest class of Guernsey females. The remainder of the classes will be judged youngest to oldest, alternating between the two breeds. Jersey cattle will be judged at Noon, and Holstein cattle will be judged at 3 p.m., Monday, January 15. 11. Group Class Description for All Breeds: • Produce of Dam –To consist of two (2) females, any age, the produce of one (1) cow. Each exhibitor is limited to one (1) entry. • Best Three Females –Three (3) females, any age, all bred and at least one (1) owned by exhibitor. Each exhibitor limited to one (1) entry. • Breeders Herd of Five Females –Group to consist of two (2) animals shown in classes eligible for Junior Champion Female, two (2) animals shown in classes eligible for Senior Champion Female, and one (1) female any age; all owned and at least three (3) bred by exhibitor. Each exhibitor limited to one (1) entry. • Premier Exhibitor –The Exhibitor accumulating the most points on animals, not to exceed six (6), owned and exhibited by himself in the Open Show single classes. • Premier Breeder –The Breeder accumulating the most points on animals, not to exceed six (6), bred by him and exhibited by him and/or others in the Open Show single classes. 12. Group Class Entries. All entries in group classes must be made on a separate entry application and be submitted prior to entry closing deadline.
