27 2024 HORSE SHOW general rules and regulations

SALE HORSES (And Other Equine)

These regulations apply to all equine entering the Show Grounds for the use of Sale.

TEXAS ORIGIN A. Original Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within thirty (30) days.

B. Negative Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) test, also known as a “Coggins” Test, within the past six (6) months. Test date, accession number and name of laboratory must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. C. Vet statement for mares 24 months of age or older at the time of sale confirming pregnancy status and both (two) ovaries and for all stallions 13 months of age or older at the time of sale have two descended testicles. Exemption: Equine may enter shows, fairs, exhibitions or assemblies without a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection when accompanied by a valid equine interstate passport or equine identification card and a completed VS Form 10-11 showing negative results to an official EIA test within the previous six (6) months. 20. HUMANE TREATMENT. Humane treatment of animals (including helping horses) must be exercised at all times by all exhibitors and their employees. Animals that have been given any form of intoxicating beverages, tranquilizers or other drugs enhancing the performance, or affecting the mood or attitude of the animal prior to judging will be disqualified. Any inhumane treatment will be reported to the appropriate governing association. 21. DISEASED ANIMALS BARRED. Efforts will be taken to ensure no animals having a disease of any character will be admitted into the Show Grounds at any time, and the Livestock Show Director, Horse Show Director, General Manager or President are authorized to refuse unloading privileges or remove any stock on the facility having a disease or undesirable ailment as determined by the official Stock Show Veterinarian or the Texas Animal Health Commission. 22. All horses, donkeys and mules will be under the care and supervision of their owners. Exhibitors are required to keep their animals, as well as stalls, clean and neat and refuse matter disposed of as the Management of the Horse Show may direct. All exhibitors and their employees must be suitably dressed at all times; clothing is to be conservative and appropriate in all performance classes and the wearing of a hat is mandatory. Tennis shoes or loafers are not permitted in performance classes. 23. PROMPT ENTRANCE INTO ARENA WILL BE REQUIRED. Classes will be called according to the schedule. All horses must enter the arena promptly. Horses will not be allowed to enter the arena after the gates are closed and the judge has started to work. Exhibitors are responsible for informing the gateman of tack changes or any other delay that may cause the exhibitor to be late. A reasonable delay will be at the discretion of the judge. Barn calls are a courtesy, it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to report to their class on time. 24. PROTESTS. Each protest must be in writing and accompanied by a deposit of $50, which will be forfeited if protest is not sustained. Such protest must state plainly the cause of complaint or appeal, and must be delivered to the Management immediately after the occasion for such protest. OUT OF STATE ORIGIN A. Horses must meet the same requirements as Texas origin horses.

25. FEED. Feed of all kinds will be available for purchase through the Stock Show Feed Department at reasonable prices. All feed and shavings must be paid for, in full, at time of purchase.

26. ARRIVAL. No entry will be allowed on the Show Grounds without proper receipt of entry.

27. GROUNDS PASSES. Each horse entered will receive one complimentary grounds pass issued to Horse Show exhibitors, and they will be mailed with the confirmation of entries. Additional exhibitor grounds passes may be purchased at $35 each.

COOKING IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE SHOW GROUNDS EXCEPT BY FOOD CONCESSIONAIRES. No cookers, crock-pots, microwaves, coffee pots, warmers or other cooking utensils will be permitted.
