25 2024 HORSE SHOW general rules and regulations

9. SUBSTITUTIONS/CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP. Substitution of a horse not entered in the Show for a horse entered, within the same department , will be allowed until December 30. Any substitution after this date will be subject to a $50 charge for each horse and must be made not later than NOON the day preceding judging. Once an animal has been shown, substitutions will not be allowed. Once a horse is substituted, the original horse may not be shown. Substitutions and changes of ownership accepted by mail, in person in the Stock Show Main Office located in the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall Building or submitted online with payment by clicking here or at fwssr.com. A change of ownership/lessee will require a current copy of the registration/lease papers from the breed association showing the new owner/lessee and must be accompanied by a $50 charge for each horse. Horses entered in the Show by the late entry deadline, December 30, may have the name of the owner changed up until, but not later than, NOON the day preceding judging. 10. ADDED CLASSES/CLASS CHANGES. A horse entered in the Show may be entered in additional classes or change classes until December 30. After this date, a charge of $15 will be made for each added class/class change. This charge is in addition to the stated entry fees for each class. All added classes/class changes must be made not later than NOON the day preceding judging. Added classes and class changes accepted by mail, in person in the Stock Show Main Office located in the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall Building or submitted online with payment by clicking here or at fwssr.com. 11. LATE ENTRIES. Entries will be accepted after the closing date (November 15) provided exhibitor pays appropriate late show fee(s) (please refer to Special Rules for each department). Any entry postmarked or submitted online at fwssr.com after midnight November 15 will be considered late and must pay appropriate fee(s). All late entries must be postmarked or submitted online with payment at fwssr.com by midnight December 30. Absolutely no late entries accepted after this date. Credit cards will only be accepted for any entry related fees submitted online by clicking here or at fwssr.com. A processing fee of 4% will be added to all credit card transactions. Credit cards WILL NOT be accepted for entry related fees submitted in person at the Stock Show Office or by mail. They will only be accepted with cash, check or money order. 12. PREMIUMS. Premiums will be paid as outlined in each department. Premiums offered by the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show will be paid as soon as they can be properly processed after the close of the Exposition. Note: Premiums are paid based on the number of horses drawn to compete in the class. Your premium check will be made payable to owner, as indicated on your entry application. Following the completion of the Show, agents will be contacted to obtain a Form W-9 for each owner in which the owner’s premium check is $600 or more. The premium check will not be released until a valid, signed Form W-9 is returned to Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show. 13. TAXES. Federal law requires the withholding of twenty-four percent (24%) federal income tax from payments made to vendors for which we do not have a taxpayer identification number. This withholding requirement was originally included in the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982, and generally applies to payments which are required to be reported on Form 1099 to the Internal Revenue Service.

Payees are subject to the backup withholding if the owner does not provide their taxpayer identification number on the requested Form W-9 (as stated in section 12) or the number provided is incorrect.

14. ANIMAL AGE. The age of a horse, donkey or mule shall be computed on the basis of a calendar year starting on January 1 of the year foaled.

15. EXHIBITOR AGE. The age of the exhibitor on January 1 should be maintained throughout the year. Breed association rules regarding age requirements will apply to all exhibitors. If minimum age is not specified, the minimum age of exhibitors permitted to show will be 5 years old with the exception of Leadline classes.

16. COURTESY. All possible courtesies will be extended to exhibitors. Any willful discourtesy should be reported to Management.
